Methodology: What Is the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly American Dietetic Association) Evidence Analysis Process?

At the Academy, we are convinced that our rigorous process of evidence analysis is simply the best there is. But don't take our word for it. Consider the following:

  • The Academy's Evidence Analysis process was recognized by JCAHO as exemplary of bringing the best research to practice
  • The Academy's Evidence Analysis process was adapted by the FDA to assess the type of qualified health claim that can be put on food labels
  • The Academy's Research staff has trained staff and task force members for USDA, DHHS, CDC and FDA

The Academy supported development of the USDA Nutrition Evidence Library (NEL), used by the 2010 Dietary Guideline Advisory Committee (DGAC), which adapted the Academy's Evidence Analysis process to the Federal public health policy arena.
